The Director selects the play (in association with the committee), organises auditions and selects the cast, recruits the other members of the artistic team, draws up rehearsal schedules and agrees hall bookings (the secretary normally books the hall), runs rehearsals to direct the actors, agrees and co-ordinates costumes, set, lighting, sound, music, choreography and props. Most importantly the director is the designated custodian of the coffee box.

The Musical Director selects the music in conjunction with the director, makes any necessary arrangements of the music, recruits a pianist and other musicians, obtains sufficient copies of music and words for singers and musicians, runs musical rehearsals and coaches singers.

The Choreographer arranges dances in association with the director and musical director, runs dance rehearsals and coaches dancers and cast.

The Set Designer agrees the set with the director, designs the set within resources of time, budget, construction crew and equipment, builds a set model for use during construction and briefing sessions and advises on set construction.

The Wardrobe Mistress (or Master - let's not be too sexist!) agrees the costume theme and designs with the director; recruits people to make the costumes; adapts, makes, borrows or obtains (!) costumes, usually with the assistance of the cast; carries out fittings, adjustments and running repairs; recruits and briefs dressers if necessary; monitors and controls the costume budget and ensures that costumes are clean and stored properly after the production.

The make-up requirements are to obtain the relevant materials, carry out any special make-up needed and advise and assist the cast in their own make-up.

The Prompt attends rehearsals to assist the cast as they learn their lines and prompts during performances (if necessary!)

The actors, as well as the obvious, assist the production and artistic teams whenever possible, arrive promptly for rehearsals , make sure everything is tidy before going home after rehearsals and performances, arrange a dressing room rota to ensure that costume racks, screens, mirrors and make up are in place and that the building is left tidy after each performance and also assist with set building and breaking.
